For Uncles Blaine and Frank

My mom has two brother-in-laws who are struggling with health issues. One is in the hospital and another is headed there for surgery to remove cancerous tissue (for a second time in the same spot) on Tuesday.

My birthday’s coming up in a couple of weeks.

This week on American Idol the contestants sang songs from their birth year, and many of them were from years when I was in high school.

Isn’t it interesting the perspective age gives you?

My parents are celebrating one of the big birthdays this year. I think my dad’s a year or two away from retirement now.

At least we’re all on the same time conveyor belt. None of us can escape the effects of time.

For me, as long as I’m progressing and my life is in line with those things I know to be true, I’m happy.

I am so blessed by supportive family members, immediate and extended, many good friends, and a strong faith.

My uncles and their families will be in our thoughts and prayers during the upcoming days and weeks. We wish you both a speedy recovery.
