Day 52 of my full-time mission
Area: Afton, Wyoming

We left the apartment at 7 a.m. for Soda Springs. We met the elders there and left for Smithfield. It really didn’t look familiar, but one of the mountain ranges sure did. Someday, when I’m there, I’ll have to find my old home. Mom and Dad will be excited to hear I was there.

The zone meeting was quite good. They told us to be ready for a lot of changes on transfer day. I’ll be surprised if they touch our area though. We saw “What Is Real,” the new church video to be aired next month. It’s hot! I can’t wait to use it.

After the zone meeting, we headed back to Soda Springs and had lunch. Then, we all went on missionary splits. Gatlin and the other elder taught a discussion, and Combs and I checked on referrals. Then, he passed me off on half of my mission bachelor’s certification.

We went and sawa  manmade geyser in Soda. It’s the only man-made one in the world, supposedly. They were drilling for a swimming pool hot water source, and it sprang up, pressured by carbon dioxide. They release it every hour on the hour. It’s cool. I wish I had my camera there. We were playing around the spring around 4 p.m., and all of a sudden, it started spewing water. We turned and ran as fast as we could. I only got a little wet. Pretty funny, huh?

I got my copy of the mission picture today. It’s nice. I may send it home to the family. I also got my Utah Ogden Mission nametag. It’s neato! Now I’m like everyone else in the mission.

We didn’t get into town until 6 p.m. and went right to our dinner appointment at Brenning’s home again. They’re a really fun family. We saw King David on TV. It was good, but Hollywood always changes things a little.

On the way home, we stopped for mail. I got letters from Uncle Owen and Aunt Pauline, and from Mark with his soon-to-be new address. They were great to read. I can’t believe all of the compliments Pauline gave me. They sure loved being with me in Albany, she said. She also said I’d succeed in everything I do and with anyone I meet. She sure has confidence in me.

I sure do feel great. Being with the other elders always helps me. Seeing “What Is Real” was a good uplift too. I sure love my Father in Heaven and hope to always please him.

My Scripture: Alma 34:17 — …exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you…
