Day 35 of my full-time mission
Area: Afton, Wyoming

I slept till 8 a.m. today because it was preparation day and I was tired. I got up and studied for two hours in the Book of Mormon. It was great! Elder Gatlin didn’t get up for another three hours. We cleaned the bathroom and did laundry. Then we rode over to a member’s home so Gatlin could fix his bike.

I wrote letters and sat out in the sun. I got about seven more written. It’s paid off too, every day for the past three days I’ve gotten mail. Yesterday (which we picked up today, obviously), I got pictures back from York. They turned out all right. A few are blurry. Such fond memories!

We spent all evening at the Eddin’s. They live just around the block. We played Nintendo and watched TV, ate dinner and jumped on the trampoline and finally saw some fireworks there tonight. They were kind of careless and I got scared a few times and one of them shot right at us, but no one was hurt. I did manage to get my thumb burned by a kid who was swinging a punk (a fireworks lighter) around.

I talked with Sis. Eddin and she could tell Gatlin wasn’t exactly on top of things. She told me to hang in there.

I was expecting to come home at 10 p.m. (which is already late), but Gatlin said we had to go up to the school field to watch some more fireworks. After some debate, I gave in. “It’s the Fourth of July!” he exclaimed. So, we went and then got in at 10:50 p.m. I have a feeling we will get little work done here.
